How to Become a Pornstar – Step 1 – Research

Give yourself a hearty pat on the back, because you’ve already begun this crucial step; research is what brought you to this page!

  • The production of pornography is only technically legal in 4% of the United States.
  • Which are they?
  • Do you live in one of them?
  • How much money can you earn as a pornstar?
  • What should you expect, during your first porn scene?
  • Is it different for guys than it is for girls?
  • What if I’m gay or bisexual?

These are some questions that you should ask yourself while considering how to become a pornstar, and that will be answered below. Make sure to do your due diligence before “pulling the trigger” and applying to become a pornstar. A reliable resource to study up on the porn industry is ThePornAgency.com’s blog.

How to Become a Pornstar – Step 2 – Secure Professional Representation

Professional representation in the entertainment industry can take several different forms. We’re not just talking about the porn industry. Whether you are a Hollywood screen actor, fashion model, rapper, country-western singer, or a pornstar, and whether you are an AVN or Oscar Award Winner, or still looking to book your first gig & trying to figure out how to become a pornstar (or actor, model, etc.), the same classifications for different types of representation apply.

Your boyfriend doesn’t qualify as being your agent or manager. Unless he happens to already work in the entertainment industry in one of the following capacities, your boyfriend can best serve your career needs by being supportive and whooping-up some eggs & bacon on your shoot days. And no, he can’t come to set with you, either. (Rule of thumb: If it wouldn’t be OK at a regular job – think, Starbucks barista or an office job – then it usually wouldn’t be OK in porn.)

Different Types of Representation

Talent Agency

A talent agency’s one-and-only job is to get you work. As an employment agency for the entertainment industry, a talent agency is a matchmaker for employers (producers/fashion designers/etc.) and employees/contractors (performers/models). In California, talent agencies must be licensed & bonded.

Because a talent agent’s only job is to secure work for its clients, and because “more work” is often erroneously perceived as always being better than “less work”, and because they are scumbags, most of the talent agents in the American porn industry also regularly attempt to secure work for their clients as prostitutes (and most of their clients don’t know or expect this fact when they first walk through the agencies’ doors).

Talent Management Company

A talent manager’s job description is much broader than a talent agent’s. A talent manager will make introductions and arrange meetings between his or her clients/models/performers and producers/directors. A good talent management Company will invest in the development of its clients’ careers. The best talent managers provide advice & counsel, teaching their performers the step-by-step intricacies of how to become a pornstar. A proper talent manager truly represents his clients; a disrespect or slight against one of his models is one against himself & his Company. A manager of pornstars can also advise his or her clients on which types of scenes (anal, BDSM, rough sex, etc.) they should (or should not) do, for sake of the pornstar’s brand image.

Like an agent, a manager’s motivation is to see you get paid (both agents and managers work on commission). A professional talent/model manager, however, will have an incredible amount of knowledge about “who’s who in the zoo” in the entertainment industry. A professional talent manager knows that not all money is good money, and will advise you on which producers, talent, directors, etc. should be avoided, and also who the good guys are.

Payment for projects in the professional entertainment industry is generally paid to a performer’s manager. The talent management Company is then responsible for paying the agency (if there is one involved) its commissions and paying the model/performer what he or she is owed.

A talent management company’s success is directly connected to the success of its talent.

Publicist / P.R. Firm

A publicist’s job is broader than a talent agent’s, yet narrower than a talent manager’s. Unlike talent managers & agents that work on a commission basis, publicists and their companies (public relations firms) typically charge a monthly fee for their services.

P.R. firms publish press releases, attempt to secure acclaim & even awards for their clients, and concentrate exclusively on the public image of the talent. Publicists for pornstars might discourage the posting of selfies with alcoholic drinks or drugs, or getting involved in social media “brawls”. Publicists could also advise their clients on what type of outfit to wear for a given situation, like the AVN Awards, for example.

Lawyer

You most likely already know what a lawyer does. Lawyers must be licensed by the state bar of any American state that they’re practicing law in. Lawyers look out for the legal interests of a talent. Although we’d never recommend against the procurement of sound legal counsel, most new performers, or those just figuring out how to become a pornstar, will usually secure a talent manager or agency before hiring a law firm to represent them in the entertainment industry.

Summary

Agents represent their talent within the entertainment industry. Publicists represent their talent to the outside world. Talent managers do both, while also acting as a mentor/advisor to their talent. Lawyers represent their talent in court.

How to Secure Professional Representation

As a representation Company in the porn industry that’s been working with those seeking how to become a pornstar for over 15 years, we have a pretty good idea what adult industry talent representation firms are looking for. After all, we are one!

Seriousness

The porn industry is a fast-cash industry, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t require any work. Thousands of lazy people learn this lesson the hard way, each year. If you’re not in Las Vegas, Southern California, or Southern Florida, then you’re not near the legitimate porn industry. It doesn’t matter how sexy you are, or how bad you claim to want to become a pornstar, the industry is not going to come to you… you’ve got to go to it! Also, the fast-cash of the porn industry still requires hard (pun intended) work, in order to achieve success in it.

As a pornstar, myself, I was working on set just recently with a 25-year-old model that’s brand-new to the industry. 20-minutes into the scene, she exclaimed, “man, I’m not used to all this!” Of course not! She’s used to 5 minutes or so on her back with her boyfriend back home. But she was a trooper, this one. She hung in there, moaning, groaning, with great facial expressions, all while we were literally drenched in sweat. (Both porn & mainstream Hollywood movie scenes often need to be shot with the air conditioning turned off, to avoid excess white noise in the scene.) Why did she hang in there? Because she was serious!

For guys, it’s even harder (pun intended). But, seriously; it’s totally possible for a female to moan, and groan, and fake an orgasm. That’s not possible, for a male. In fact, guys can’t even fake getting turned on, let alone cumming! Guys learning how to become a pornstar will quickly discover that porn sex is still fun (as most sex is), but that they don’t get as much control over the situation as they do when they’re back at home, with their girlfriends or boyfriends. No hunching over chest-to-chest under the sheets and pounding that tight little hole until she screams. You’re NOT the star of the show, buddy! The female or (in gay porn) the bottom is. That’s who most viewers want to see! Male/top pornstars often have to keep their bodies tilted to the side, or in other not-so-comfortable positions, so the camera can get the best angle of the penetration. Porn is work, and only those that are serious about success are going to be willing to put in the work necessary to achieve that success.

As a talent manager for aspiring pornstars (I wear several hats in the adult industry, and you should too… we’ll get to that later in this guide), the greatest show of seriousness that I remember was Rosalyn Winter. Here’s a very sexy young lady from Georgia. She already had income from another venture in a different sector of the entertainment industry, but she had never done porn work. When we called to execute her phone interview, Ms. Winter told me, “look, right now I’m with some friends at the grocery store. We’re here doing some shopping. But, so what!? This is something that I am incredibly serious about that. So my friends are just going to have to wait, whether they like it or not. Let me grab a pen & paper, and sit down – for as long as it takes – right here in this grocery store… let’s do this phone interview RIGHT NOW!

Would I have agreed to a callback at a later time or even a later date? Absolutely; we do that every day. But Rosalyn was super SERIOUS, and it showed. We ended up offering her a modeling contract, and she ended up having a successful, albeit brief, career in the porn industry. (Not everyone gets in the porn business, like Larry Flynt or me, for life. Some folks just want to do a few movies, and then move on with their lives, and that’s fine too!)

Compare Rosalyn Winter’s seriousness to, say, Caitlin L. who called me a day or so ago, claiming to be serious about entering the adult industry. She was driving a car at the time, and unable to take notes during her phone interview. She promised a callback yesterday but never did. (No, I’m not going to hunt her down.) Who do you think is going to have more success in the porn industry, and in life in general?

Professionalism

If you’re looking for a job flipping burgers at McDonald’s, it’s imprudent to answer your phone “who dis’?” It’s also advisable to make sure that your cell phone has an active voicemail box, and that said voicemail box is not full so that a prospective employer can leave you a message. The same holds true when you’re exploring how to become a pornstar. At our Company, we automatically decline any applications that don’t answer the phone or have a voicemail box setup.

Show up to any interviews early. And professionalism doesn’t stop once you have professional representation; you need to continue being professional throughout your career. For example, shower before showing up on set. Bring your own things (bath towels, sex toys, etc.) and respect the property at your shoot locations.

How to Become a Pornstar – Step 3 – Get Tested

HIV+ people can’t work in the porn industry, nor can people with other STD’s. Everyone in the legit American porn industry is tested every 14 – 28 days.

Some producers will accept a printout from your physician, clinic, or Planned Parenthood. Most of the larger adult production companies will require a test from one of the official adult industry testing facilities, like Talent Testing Service.

We also recommend asking your physician about TRUVADA for PrEP or DESCOVY for PrEP, a drug that can prevent you from contracting HIV, even if you were to have sex with an HIV+ person.

How to Become a Pornstar – Step 4 – Get Ready, Physically

Porn, by definition, requires nudity. In-shape performers are likely to get more work and will be able to charge higher rates than those that are out-of-shape.

Anal Sex

Whether you are a female or gay male, one of the questions that you’ll often be asked by most porn agents and producers is, “do you do anal?” No hem-hawing! Any answer other than a definitive “no” will immediately arouse the killer instinct of even the most docile of men. “I’ve never tried it before,” or, “I’m not sure…” will only invite a verbal onslaught against your sphincter, with the agent or producer trying to convince you that it’s a fantastic idea to start doing anal, right off the bat.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with anal sex, but you need to decide ahead of time whether you want your booty pounded… or not.

I remember when I first got into the porn industry. I was in my mid-twenties and so excited! Thinking, for some reason, that my family would be equally as excited, I joyfully proclaimed to my dad, “I’m going to be working in porn!” Later on, after working on-camera for my first time (it was a “boy/girl” scene where I was asked to orally, vaginally & anally fuck a 20-year-old brunette), I gave my dad that news, as well. I thought that I was on top of the world. His first question/response was: “Are they going to make you do gay stuff?

Gay stuff!? Make me!? WTF!? My dad is a loving & caring man, and I love and respect him greatly. He didn’t mean anything insulting or bad by the comment, but it just goes to show the level of ignorance about the porn industry that is prevalent in the general public. First of all, in the U.S., nobody can be made to do anything sexual without it being considered actual rape, a class A felony punishable by life in prison. Secondly, the gay porn industry is just that – an actual, completely separate industry from the straight porn industry. The gay industry has its own production companies, talent agencies, pay rates, awards shows, etc. Surprisingly, most lesbian & transgender porn is produced by the “straight” porn companies. Gay production companies typically shoot exclusively male/male content. And finally, so what if I did decide to start doing gay porn, in addition to straight porn? I’m an adult, and we live in a free Country, not Saudi Arabia, right?

My dad didn’t initially understand the concept that the porn industry is not only about consensual sex, but that the people involved in it get to openly choose – of their own free will, as grown adults – what activities, sexual or otherwise, they will and won’t do during a scene. (And that’s fine because my dad has never been involved in the porn industry.) For me, I could choose whether or not I wanted to do “gay stuff”. Ladies, you get to decide whether or not you want to do anal (and other acts, as well).

For those that enjoy anal sex, or at least want to receive anal penetration on camera, we recommend that you make a solid decision about it before applying with any adult industry companies, and then make your decision abundantly clear to anyone in the industry that asks about your “limitations”. For example:

Do you do anal?
No.

…or…

Do you do anal?
Yes.

It’s that simple! Once you decide that you are going to do anal, make sure to show up on set prepared. An enema before anal scenes is always a good idea (consult your doctor), and many performers will show up on set with a butt plug already in their ass; this way they are nice and loosened-up come show time. (Consult your doctor.)

Menstrual Cycle & Birth Control

Most directors & male talent don’t care to work with females while they’re on their period. (Of course, there are exceptions to everything, and methods of helping to keep bleeding at a minimum while fucking on the rag, if necessary, but we won’t cover them here.)

A lot of female pornstars are on the Depo shot. This form of birth control has a pretty awesome side effect in most women… no monthly cycle!

That’s right; you don’t get a period! (Consult your physician.) This gives females considering how to become a pornstar one less thing to worry about. (What if you get booked for your first scene, and you start spotting that morning? That’s a non-issue, if you don’t get a period in the first place!)

It’s also a good idea to get on birth control before working in the sex industry, anyway. Nobody wants to be a set baby!

Physical Strength (Tops & Straight Males)

how to become a pornstar - standing impalement

Nothing demonstrates sexual dominance like being able to pick your partner up while free-standing, impale him or her on your dick, and fuck their daylights out. This requires physical strength.

I’ve worked as a male performer in the industry for close to a decade, and I’ve done so at times when I was physically in shape and also at times when I wasn’t. When starting a work out regimen after a long period of a sedentary/office lifestyle, the first benefit – and I mean the very first – that I notice, even after the very first day of working out, is an instant increase in my sexual performance. I have longer stamina; I’m able to get it up quicker, last longer, and blow much larger, thicker, stronger loads than when I’m not working out. Exercise is very important for those seeking how to become a pornstar, and even more so for straight males & tops.

How to Become a Pornstar – Step 5 – Get Ready, Mentally

Being mentally-prepared for what is going to be expected of you, and what is going to occur, and what could occur, is an extremely important aspect of how to become a pornstar.

Make the Decision, then Act

As mentioned in the seriousness section of “How to Secure Representation” above, success in the entertainment industry is only ever granted to those that are serious about it.

Although we have implemented various protocols that have improved it over the years, our Company’s decline-to-approval ratio on new applications has been as low as 98:2. That’s 98 out of every 100 applications being declined by our management team (as in, “no thanks… we are not interested in meeting with you, no matter how attractive you are… or think you are. Go find another company to work with.“) The reason? Lack-of-seriousness!

O.G. porn talent representatives of the past, like Jim South & Bill Margold, had it much easier, on this front. Applicants to their (now defunct) porn talent agencies couldn’t simply go on their mobile device while laying in bed to complete a full application. They had to get off their ass, find the agency, take a shower, shave or wax, call in to make an appointment, show up to the appointment, walk in, complete actual paperwork with a pen, get some Polaroids taken, etc., all before even being considered to work with the agency! Nowadays, in the internet era, all talent representation companies in the porn industry, including our Company, offer online applications. The result is more applicants, broader geographical reach, and many (but not all) less serious applicants.

Although a lot of the declined applicants of our Company won’t ever achieve an extraordinary level of success in any field of work or any aspect of life in general, simply because they are basic deadbeats, some of them may end up becoming serious about learning how to become a pornstar, and actually doing so, at some point in the future. When they do come and reapply with us a second time, after already being declined, we “put them through the ringer” to make sure that they don’t waste our staff’s time a second time. (Fool us once, shame on you… fool us twice, shame on us.) Their credibility has already been handicapped. Don’t allow your own credibility to be handicapped by applying with a porn company before you have actually decided that porn is what you want to do.

Some of our best performers at our Company have ended up being those whose first application was declined, but they then increased their level of seriousness, re-applied, and were then accepted to work with us.

Again, we recommend for those researching how to become a pornstar to FIRST make the DECISION TO become a pornstar, and then – and only then – taking aggressive action on that decision, including applying for representation, and making a good first impression.

Although the porn industry is a multi-billion dollar per year industry, there aren’t that many companies at the top. If you’re contemplating how to become a pornstar, remember to make a good first impression with the top talent representation Company in the porn industry and the largest producer(s) of adult content in the world. (It’s your agent or manager’s job to introduce you to the top producers.) Ever heard of any of these porn sites?

Would it surprise you to learn that all of these websites are controlled by a single European-based porn Company? That’s right. Up until the late-2000’s, there was a slew of large, dominant porn production companies (Vivid, Hustler & Penthouse, to name a few of the top players) in the U.S., but the industry was composed of a handful of independently-owned & operated companies, and a few small-to-medium size corporations, but no mega-Corporations. That changed in the late-2000’s, however, when a European Conglomerate called MindGeek (formerly known as Manwin) came along and bought up a large portion of the industry. Needless to say, when seeking how to a become a pornstar, getting on that Company’s “good list” is a good idea. Although your agent or manager will make the connections for you, it’s your job to shine during business meetings & paid scenes.

For aspiring pornstars, one of the best ways to ensure a good first impression on the top porn companies is to be 100% certain that you actually want to become a pornstar, and that you are willing to put in the work required to do so, BEFORE applying or meeting with them. As previously mentioned, in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, before porn agencies and management companies had fancy websites with online applications, you’d have to find the company, walk in, fill out an app, take some nude Polaroids, etc. You’ had to actually research how to become a pornstar & invest your own time and energy into the process. If the company was to call you and leave a message, and you never called back, they would assume that you changed your mind about becoming a pornstar or had some sort of personal issue. Nowadays, if you fill out an online application while sitting on your couch at home, you’re not really investing that much into the process. If you don’t return a company’s calls, they’re just going to figure that you were either “trolling” or wasting time by completing the application because you were curious, and had nothing better to do. Either way, whether you walked into a porn agency’s office or filled out an online application, flaking out after doing so is not the way to make a good first impression. So, again, make sure that this is something that you actually want to do before you start applying to become a pornstar.

Get Ready for the Pain Train

Don’t worry; we’re not trying to scare you! In general, porn sex is pleasurable and painless. When contemplating how to become a pornstar, however, it’s also important to consider what types of pornography you want to do, and what your limitations are going to be.

As mentioned in the Anal Sex section, above, you should know whether or not you’re going to do anal sex before applying to any porn companies, including our Company. “Not sure” is the same as “yes”, in the eyes of most porn agents & producers. Only “no” actually means “no”.

Folks that have tried (receiving, and even sometimes giving) anal sex know that pain, or at least light, pleasurable pain, can come into play during anal sex. Anal is almost an art form, to a lot of people. Many pornstars will douche before an anal scene, and show up on set with a butt plug in their ass to “keep things loose” and to be prepared for the upcoming action. A lot of synthetic lube, like KY Jelly, is also a good item to have on hand. But remember, anal is an option… your option.

Unless you’re a bottom in gay porn, it’s pretty easy to have a fruitful career in the porn industry without ever doing anal, if you want to avoid it. If you like anal, on the other hand, your agent can usually charge higher rates for your anal scenes.

Another aspect of the porn industry that is both 100% optional for those seeking how to become a pornstar and also holds the potential for a certain amount of pain is BDSM. In fact, the very definition of sadomasochism (the “SM” in “BDSM”) is the “giving or receiving pleasure from acts involving the receipt or infliction of pain or humiliation.

There are a few niche fetish companies that produce this kind of pornography, so the best talent representation Company will only promote its clients that have expressed an interest in BDSM to those companies. It’s pretty easy. If you’re interested in dating someone that you know is a vegetarian, you don’t take them out to a barbecue restaurant for the first date! If a porn agent knows that his client doesn’t want to do BDSM, then he has no business taking him or promoting him (or her) to a BDSM company.

Besides these two aforementioned 100% optional “add-ons” that a new talent in the industry can choose to do, the only other time we’ve seen our models express any level of physical discomfort is a minor ache from vaginal sex with a male talent with an exceptionally large dick. It can happen, although not frequently. The vagina, even on the most petite of young women, is designed to accommodate pretty much any human phallus that mankind can throw at it. For a girl that’s only had one or two boyfriends in her life, going to work with a male pornstar (typical porn guys can be hung “larger than your average bear”) can take a little getting used to.

At The Porn Agency, we make sure to start off all new models with male talent that has an average size cock. This way, those learning how to become a pornstar can graduate slowly, and work their way up, without getting freaked out, right at the beginning. We want our new models to be as comfortable as possible during each of their individual journeys into the adult film industry.

Porn is Hard (Pun Intended) Work

At The Porn Agency, we’ve had models earn over $5,000 in their very first week in the industry. Not bad for an 18-year-old, without breaking the law, without a background or drug trust, and without any more than 1-day of professional training. Right?

But for those that achieved this, it took a bit more work than simply relaxing on their couch at home and completing an online application. They had to first find the best talent representation available, make a good enough first impression to be invited out, get themselves to our location in Southern California, pass our qualification process, and then show up on set and actually do the work. And the work isn’t just fucking, in the porn industry. A large portion of the job is known as “hurry up and wait”. You’re waiting for other talent to finish their scenes, waiting for the makeup girl to do your makeup, waiting for your male talent partner who might be having some “performance issues”, etc.

Porn can be quick and easy money for new pornstars, but that doesn’t mean that the quick & easy money comes without a bunch of hard work.

How to Become a Pornstar – Step 6 – Get Ready, Spiritually

That’s right! We just brought up spirituality in a definitive guide on “how to become a pornstar”. And whilst the self-righteous hypocrites can snub their noses at this, we believe that there is absolutely nothing unspiritual about consenting adults working together in the 100% legal adult film production industry. There are, however, some spiritual matters for those considering how to become a pornstar to consider.

Will Becoming a Pornstar Violate Your Morals?

Google defines morals/morality as “a person’s standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not acceptable for them to do.

Wikipedia expounds “morality can be a body of standards or principles derived from a code of conduct from a particular philosophy, religion or culture, or it can derive from a standard that a person believes should be universal.

My parents & siblings disagree with my decision to work in pornography as my lifetime career choice, and with my decision to get involved in the industry in the first place. (So do the porn agents that moonlight as madams & pimps, but they can suck my dick, but that’s a whole separate topic.) My parents & siblings consider it wrong or vile. As one would with anything, however, some of them (including my mom) have come to a level of acceptance of my decision, over time. (I’ve been involved in the industry for well over 15 years now.) My Grandma, a conservative Christian, would roll over in her grave if she knew about my career.

Ultimately, my family’s distaste for my career choice is their problem to deal with. I am a grown man. I pay my own rent & other bills. My dad did an incredible job of putting food on the table when I was a child, and even beyond my childhood, but I can’t expect him to do that today. Moreover, I am the one that has to live in my own skin. Nobody else does.

I don’t have any moral hangups about my involvement in the adult film industry, today. There was a period of time that I did, and that was when I fell in love and became totally committed to another person. [My involvement in the porn industry is threefold – on the business side of things, behind the camera, and also in front of the camera (with my cock inserted in my costars).] I felt that my monogamous relationship would be jeopardized if I was fucking other people, even if it was for business purposes. (And I was probably right.)

There are many people that have fruitful relationships and also work on camera in the industry, but that’s not my story. During my relationship, I stopped working in the industry. I chose my love over my work, and it was fun while it lasted. If I had it to do over again, I would – without question – do the same thing.

Today, I don’t have this predicament. I’m a perpetual bachelor, and that seems to work for me.

Not only do I work in the porn industry, but I also assist those seeking how to become a pornstar to become involved in the industry. It’s therefore very important for me, especially, to check my values & morals, and to make sure that I’m personally OK with my involvement in the porn industry.

I have to be cool with it. As a good, loving person, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I thought that I was involved in something evil and helping thousands of other young people to get involved in (something bad).

Every person that’s considering how to become a pornstar should carefully examine their own values & morals before applying to become a pornstar. If it’s not something that you’re sure is OK for you to do, then perhaps you should hold off, for now.

On the other hand, multimillionaire sales & success trainer Grant Cardone teaches that “being broke is unethical“, and I believe him. If you’re financially broke, then you can’t feed your family or help others, and you’ll eventually become a burden on your community. We live on an economic planet. Becoming financially successful is ethical, and the legal adult film industry is one way to achieve financial success.

It’s also morally wrong to sell out. If you are personally morally comfortable earning money in the adult film industry, and that’s something that you desire to do, then you’d be doing yourself an injustice by abandoning your dreams/desires for involvement in pornography, just because of what others will (or might) think.

Have an interest in working in porn, but not sure where you stand on the issue, morally? That’s normal and perfectly understandable, but please don’t go wasting the time of professional companies in the industry (especially ours) with a half-assed online application, only to flake out or not follow through once we get you booked with Penthouse or Reality Kings or Helix Studios. That would be immoral. (It’s not OK to waste other people’s time.) It would also damage your reputation in the industry. Instead, grab a beach towel and go head out to the beach or another tranquil place – by yourself. Don’t take or go with anyone. Go, chill out, and spend a day or so really looking inside yourself: “Am I OK with becoming involved in the legal porn industry?” Once you have found the answer within, take action.

Sex = Spiritual Act. Porn (Obviously) = Sex. Therefore, Porn = Spiritual Act.

That’s right. Porn is spiritual. Especially the production of it. Humans are spiritual beings, and one of the most spiritual activities that humans engage in is coitus and other types of sexual intercourse. Contrary to the teachings of the religious right (except Mormon fundamentalists), happily married & committed heterosexual couples don’t retain a monopoly on spiritual sex. Nope, even 2 random porn stars assigned by a smut producer to work together for an afternoon; their intercourse is going to produce a spiritual connection between the two, every time.

As a talent in the porn industry, I always like to practice deep breathing techniques with my partners before beginning the scene. Sometimes, if a break is needed, I like to sit & chat with my costar, establishing a deeper human connection.

I’ve also recently discovered that I love talking (having an actual conversation) with my partner, while fucking. I feel that this aides in the connection between us. Plus, I enjoy hearing their voice quiver as I thrust my cock inside of them.

A positive emotional and spiritual connection with a costar helps me, as a male porn performer, to perform (getting hard, cumming and cumming hard). I’ve no doubt it will help bottoms & females to perform better scenes as well.

How to Become a Pornstar – Step 7 – Get TO the Industry to Get IN the Industry

The porn industry is not in Anchorage, Alaska. It’s not in Tulsa, Wichita or “San Antone”. It’s not in Boise, Brooklyn, Buckeye or Biloxi.

This doesn’t mean that each of those places is void of horny guys that have gone down to Best Buy, picked up a camcorder, posted an ad on Craigslist, and then (for a multitude of reasons and varying motivations) started calling themselves “porn producers” (or “porn agents”, etc.). It just means that the legitimate, actual porn industry isn’t located there. The legitimate, actual porn industry includes the companies that produce most of the mainstream porn that the world watches on a day-to-day basis. These companies tend to “congregate” in a particular area(s), as opposed to being spread out in cities throughout the Country. Until the turn of the Century, these were the companies that produced the DVDs that were physically sold in adult DVD stores.

By the way, we’re not saying that every Joe Schmo in a small town (or large town that’s not a porn town) that claims to be a pornographer (or agent, etc.) is an evil or insincere guy (or gal). Some of them are, but without professional representation securing your bookings, it is a bit of a dice roll.

Traditionally, for the straight U.S. porn industry, the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, California has been the industry’s “Capitol” or main operating headquarters. A main reason for this is the fact that pornography production is only technically legal in 4% of the Country… that’s in 2 of the 50 United States. One is New Hampshire, and the other is California. Hollywood (in Los Angeles) has been the Capitol of the American film industry (movie studios, talent agencies, movie stars, etc.) for over 15 years. It only made sense that the porn industry would establish itself right next door, in the San Fernando Valley.

One of the major Hollywood moguls, Harvey Weinstein, has been in the news recently due to some sexual harassment allegations, but it’s actually another Weinstein, Michael Weinstein of the Aids Healthcare Foundation, that outsmarted the Los Angeles porn industry, and the voters of Los Angeles, in 2012. He did so using a ballot measure called the “Safer Sex In the Adult Film Industry Act” (also known as “Measure B”), which got passed. Anyone can put anything on the ballot in Los Angeles. Although the industry already regulated itself (for decades) through strict, mandatory STD & HIV testing every 28 days, and although there had not been an on-set transmission of HIV in over 10 years, Michael Weinstein has always had a strange vendetta against the industry. He snuck this ballot measure, with tons of bureaucratic fine print and hidden legislation, in. To the uninformed voter, it sounds like an honorable cause, at first glance. Voters responded, “of course! Let’s ‘stop the spread of HIV in the porn industry’ (not a real thing, by the way… there was no spread of HIV in the industry) and protect L.A. workers.” And voila! Mr. Weinstein, in one swift move, literally broke up a multi-billion dollar local industry and caused an exodus of many adult production companies out of state.

Although the porn industry remains in Los Angeles, to an extent, a lot of the production companies have moved out to Las Vegas and other areas. Southern Florida (Miami & Ft. Lauderdale, in particular) has also been home to a few large pornography production companies, for many years.

If you’re researching how to become a pornstar, then taking your current geographical location into account is a wise idea. If you’re not already in Las Vegas or Los Angeles, then you should probably make a plan to get there. No matter how sexy & willing you are, the porn industry is not going to fly out to you, to put you in a movie. (And even if they did – which they won’t, one movie is just that… one movie… pornstars become “stars” by working for numerous companies, doing many movies.)

That’s fine! I’ll just rely on the agency that I sign with to take care of my airfare, travel & lodging,” many naive young men & women have gullibly said to themselves. They didn’t heed their daddy’s advice, “remember that nothing in life is free!” The porn agencies that cover your travel expenses expect their investment to be paid back. They’ll take it out of your pay, at the first chance they get. And if you don’t get booked for legit porn scenes, then most of the large porn agencies will have you turn to prostitution to make up the debt.

If you can’t pay your own way to Southern California right now, but you’re still serious about becoming a pornstar, then it’s best to apply with The Porn Agency right away. At the same time, you’re going to want to wait until you can carry your own weight – as a grown adult, and pay for your own airfare and lodging before making your trip out. The Porn Agency will be able to recommend & assist with safe & legal ways that you can earn the money for your first So-Cal trip, including professional part-time internet modeling from your bedroom at home. At $1,000 – $2,000 per week, working just 15-hours / week, you’ll be able to pay for your own trip to Southern California & Las Vegas in no time! You’ll also feel a lot better about yourself than a new model that comes out and is already in debt to her agency, the moment she gets off the plane; that’s how pimps work. We don’t get down like that, here at The Porn Agency. Let us help you get started in the legit & legal adult entertainment industry, and let’s make money together, as responsible adults… not become indebted to one another.

How to Become a Pornstar – Step 8 – Be Professional!

It’s easy to get it confused, especially for a younger person, and especially for a young 18 or so year-old that has never worked in the adult entertainment industry. Sex is associated, in our minds, with pleasure… and rightfully so; it’s very pleasurable. There is also a spiritual connection made between sexual partners, even on a porn set. But whether it’s something that one enjoys with a spouse, a boyfriend, or even casually at a party, average, everyday people don’t think of sex on a professional, business level.

Even if a situation – in any industry – begins professionally, once actual sexual intercourse gets involved, professionalism is usually thrown out the window. Passion & feelings take over. And this is normal for both women & men, straight & gay, alike.

As mentioned earlier, there is a deep spiritual, chemical & emotional connection created between any two people that have sex, even if they were assigned to work together by some smut producer. As professional sex workers, we don’t need to ignore this fact or pretend to be inhuman.

On the other hand, we need to remember that this sex is professional sex. It’s for business purposes. Feelings & passion don’t need to be thrown out the window. In fact, embracing them can make for much better porn scenes, but the feelings need to be counterbalanced by the knowledge that this is business.

My most recent costar squealed with delight as I kissed her forehead after cumming inside her pussy. (The cum in the pussy was a part of the scene. The forehead kiss wasn’t.) It was a natural, unplanned act of passion. She knew that and appreciated it. Afterwards, however, after a quick rinse in the shower, we put our professional faces back on, and we were back to discussing business.

It doesn’t often happen, but after working with hundreds of costars throughout my career, there have been a few (very few, that I can count on one hand) that I actually developed a crush on. It happens, but we just do the best we can to keep things professional.

Because it’s worth repeating: don’t apply with a porn company until you are 100% serious about becoming a pornstar, and doing the necessary work. This applies to seeking work in any industry, to be honest.

Nobody has any business claiming to be serious about anything they can get paid for until they have a valid phone with an active (and clear) voicemail box. If you can’t get at least an “Obama phone” and take the 3 – 4 minutes to activate your voicemail box, then you don’t have any business applying for any kind of work, including porn work.

Needless to say, show up early (on-time) to all appointments & shoots.

Communicate. Ask for help & answers, if you need it. That’s a talent manager’s job.

Show up on set already shaved & showered. As mentioned above, if you’re receiving anal, consider douching and butt plugging before arriving on set. Bring your own bath towel, soap or shower gel, shampoo, etc. You’ll be doing paperwork on any legit porn set. Bring your own pen or two – we recommend blue.

Need to borrow a bath towel on set? No problem; just ask! But even then, it’s a bath towel, not a fucking floor rug! I’ve declined girls from receiving modeling contracts with The Porn Agency because they chose to use my personal bath towel as a floor rug. Like, WTF!? Why don’t you just squat over, and take a shit on my desk, while you’re at it?

OK, OK, I’m back now. I’m back. But seriously… do you want to know how to become a pornstar? Don’t be a dummy, be professional & make that money!

How to Become a Pornstar – Step 9 – Fuck Like a Pornstar

You’ve done your research. You’ve secured the best adult-industry representation available. You got your adult industry HIV / STD test, and you are clean as a whistle. You are physically, mentally & emotionally ready for whatever comes next. You’ve gotten booked. You’re on your first professional porn set in Southern California. You’re behaving professionally. Now, what!?

Now, you need to fuck like a fucking pornstar… because you are one! That’s the job. If you were a firefighter, it would be the actual extinguishing of fires. A fisherman, the catching of fish. A car salesman… you get it, right?

Get Physical

how to become a pornstar - doggystyle sexBottoms & ladies that lay there like a bump on a log won’t last very long or get booked much. Just because you’re the one being penetrated doesn’t mean that you don’t have to do any work. Nothing beats a female or bottom in the doggy-style position that puts in the majority of the work, thrusting back hard against the cock as if fucking a dildo that’s mounted on a wall. Fuck it like you want it! Also, some of the best performers in the industry are those that know how to ride dick like their life depends on it. Bounce on that meatpole like a fucking jack rabbit until he cums!

Get Loud & Get Nasty!

You are not a teenager whose boyfriend snuck in the window anymore; you don’t have have to keep quiet so that your parents don’t hear you. The top pornstars are loud. They moan, groan, scream, squeal, dirty talk and shout. But they are never quiet.

Even if you’re not naturally a “screamer”, if you’re a female or a bottom, you need to learn how to get vocal and loud when you’re getting fucked. As a male talent in straight porn or a top, you should also feel comfortable being vocal and making various cries of pleasure. It can only help.

Also, learn the art of dirty talk. Porn is taboo. Most talent and, more importantly, most consumers of pornography love a dirty mouth. “Fuck me, daddy! I’m your little whore! Fuck my tight little shithole!

Uncomfortable yet? Welcome to porn! Want to know how to become a pornstar? Be nasty!

How to Become a Pornstar – Step 10 – Promote Yourself

Self-promotion is a good thing for those seeking porn stardom, but only when used to supplement the existing efforts of, and under the direction of, a professional management team and/or p.r. team.

Webcam or internet modeling is a way to build your own personal fan-base that you can wield to help secure more bookings for adult movies. (If there are two talents of equal looks & skill, but one has 100,000 paying webcam customers and the other has none, who do you think a producer is going to book first?)

Twitter is still preferred by most pornstars, over Instagram, as Instagram is ridiculously prudish and has been known to delete pornstars’ accounts, even if there is no nudity or other violations of its Terms of Service.

Once you have been published in a few movies, a professional porn agent or manager will be able to help you secure feature dances at strip clubs throughout the Country.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, they say. After signing with your porn agent, don’t harass them, but remember that they work for you now. If you’re not getting enough calls for work, go ahead and follow-up with your agency. If they try suggesting “escorting” jobs to supplement your income, then report them to the police for pimping & pandering, and apply at The Porn Agency for strictly-professional, legal talent management & representation.

How to Become a Pornstar – Step 11 – Branch Out & Add Income Streams

Webcam modeling is already a larger industry than porn itself. It is an ancillary job for a pornstar, meaning that becoming a webcam model can increase your income & notoriety as a pornstar, and vice versa.

Webcam modeling can also give you a fan-base that’s better than anything social media can provide, and this is because your webcam fans are paying fans, not just “followers”. I’d much rather have 10,000 fans that pay money to interact with me than 100,000 that follow my social media feed, for free – with no intention of ever giving me any money. Wouldn’t you?

Many pornstars launch their own websites, and some of the biggest pornstars even have masturbators including Fleshlights & dildos molded after their own body parts. Although retired from doing actual porn movies, Tori Black has recently been working for a Canadian Company doing virtual reality porn, a new technology.

Models of The Porn Agency have been paid for performing in mainstream Hollywood movies & other mainstream projects, in addition to their income from the adult film industry.

There are 100’s of other ancillary, supplementary ways to increase your income, once you become a pornstar. And – we can’t reiterate enough – none of them need to include anything illegal or dangerous. None of them include “escorting”.

How to Become a Pornstar – Step 12 – Repeat

To have success at anything in life, you must be relentless. If you already secured a porn agent or manager, but you don’t have the best, then you might need to change agencies. HIV / STD testing isn’t done just once; active pornstars get tested every 14 – 28 days. Physical, mental & spiritual preparedness is a daily task.

You don’t have to permanently relocate to Southern California or Las Vegas to become a pornstar (although some of our performers have chosen to do so), but one trip out (for out-of-towners) isn’t going to cut it. With the best adult talent company, your first trip can be very productive. But top pornstar careers last for years, and even decades. Get used to taking trips out to the Southern West Coast & Sin City.

Moaning & groaning like a champ on one porn scene is great; let’s see you repeat that, and even improve your performance 150 – 300+ times. A single Tweet, webcam show or one of anything is not going to make you the next Sasha Grey or Tori Black overnight.

Getting the point, yet? All of the advice in this guide can & will help you to become a pornstar, but only if you practice these things over & over again.

We wish you the best of luck in your endeavor to become a pornstar, and we’re here to help you in any way possible.
