Over the years, we’ve uncovered a few porn industry myths & urban legends, and we’re going clear up these porn industry myths for you right now.

Porn Industry Myth #1 – Fluffers

Agh, the notorious porn industry fluffer. He or she gets paid to work in the porn industry, in a sexual capacity, without having to worry about being on camera. The idea is that male talent (porn actors) occasionally need some help obtaining & maintaining an erection, before or during shoots. It’s the fluffer’s job to sexually entice & arouse the actor by various means including handjob, blowjob, etc.

The only problem: fluffers don’t exist. “Fluffer” is not a real job position on a professional porn set, at least not in human form (Viagra, Cialis & other sexual supplements could possibly be considered “fluffers”). Are you looking to get into the porn industry? Be extremely wary of anyone advertising job(s) as a “fluffer”, because the “fluffer” is no more than an urban legend… one of those porn industry myths.

Porn Industry Myth #2 – Masked Porn

Almost every day here at The Porn Agency we get the same question, “I want to do porn, but only if I can wear a mask. Is this possible?” And we always give the same answer: “There is no legitimate work in the porn industry that does not involve showing your face. Any ads for anything like this should be viewed with extreme caution, because they are a scam. You should not even consider joining the porn industry until you have made a decision, as an adult, that your face and body will be recorded and broadcast throughout the world, permanently. Of course, all performers use a performer name, and not their real name or identity. Masked porn is not a real thing, though. Trying to join the porn industry without showing your face is like trying to become a police officer when you don’t believe in guns. It’s not going to work out very well.”

By no means are we claiming that you won’t be able to find Craiglist ads claiming to have job openings for masked porn shoots (and/or for fluffer jobs, for that matter). We’re explaining the fact that those ads & claims are not legit; they are advertisements for porn industry myths. We at The Porn Agency know that they’re not legit because we’ve worked in the adult film business for over 12 years. Not once has any of our models ever been booked by a producer for “masked porn” or as a “fluffer”, and that’s because these types of jobs don’t exist.

You just have to think about these porn industry myths logically…

• Do you watch porn?
• What kind?
• Gay, straight, threesomes, anal, teen, interracial… all of the above?

Regardless, there is so much porn out there these days – both free & paid – that it wouldn’t make sense for a professional production company to waste their time & money on masked porn, and that’s because the consumer wouldn’t waste his/her time & money on watching it! Would you?

When you can go to your favorite porn tube site & instantly pull up any kind of porn that your heart desires… and immediately watch cinema-quality pornography where you can witness the moans, groans & facial expressions of your favorite stars in HD (or even 4K or higher) or even virtual or augmented reality, why on Earth would you waste your time instead watching porn in which the performers’ faces are hidden? Granted, in the staged “casting couch” porn genre, it’s become popular to blur out the face of the “casting agent”, but he isn’t the star of the show. (BackroomCastingCouch.com started this fad, and all of the other staged “casting couch” sites followed suit, to try to replicate the look of the original site.)

Unless you are making your own “casting couch” porn (and you’re the “casting agent”), the audience is going to want to see your face. If you’re not sure whether or not you want to show your face on camera, that’s totally fine – but you’re definitely not ready to enter the porn industry. Porn Industry Myth #3 – Privates / Bachelor Parties

This one of the porn industry myths gets under our skin here at The Porn Agency more so than any other one. The preceding porn industry myths are typically perpetrated by horny guys that aren’t actually a part of the porn industry. Generally, for those, you’ve got a horny guy that goes down to his local electronics store, buys a camcorder, and voila… he’s online posting Craigslist ads that very night, with a boner the size of the Eifel tower, anticipating the tail that he’s going to finally get when he starts duping young aspiring pornstars in his local area to have sex with him. To make his offer more appealing, he adds to his ad, “don’t worry… you can wear a mask” or “don’t worry… this is a tryout for a fluffer job… you don’t need to be on camera, if you don’t want.” But first, you have to suck my dick!

The difference with this porn industry myth is that it’s often perpetrated by criminals that are, in fact, in the porn industry. This myth is perpetrated by many that are supposed to be in charge of guiding, representing, and looking out for the interests of new porn models. Instead, most of the talent agents & agencies in the porn industry have – for decades – betrayed their calling as “agents”, as well as the trust of thousands of aspiring pornstars. It is the opinion of our Company that these unscrupulous characters deserve to have their titles, market share & businesses violently stripped from their hides.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines an agent as:

one who is authorized to act for or in the place of another: such as

a : a representative, emissary, or official of a government
b : one engaged in undercover activities (such as espionage) : spy
c : a business representative (as of an athlete or entertainer)

In the United States, to this day, a secret agent that betrays his Country can be put to death for treason. In the American porn industry, most of the talent agents regularly betray their models with this porn industry myth, and the rest of the industry turns a blind eye, and many even support this treason. It is an abomination… an infamia.

So, what is this myth? The “private” / “bachelor party” porn industry myth is that “escorting” (which is just a fancy word for prostitution) is part of the legitimate & professional adult entertainment industry… on the same level as professional pornography. This porn industry myth is that it’s “OK” for porn agents and agencies to bait-and-switch aspiring pornstars into turning tricks in hotel rooms, and their trying to sell this as “modeling”, or in some way a part of what is “normal” or “usual” for professional pornstars to do. When these scoundrels advertise their models, they’ll typically mention that the models are open to doing “bachelor parties” or “privates”… both of these are code words for prostitution.

We will never suggest or condone our models being involved in the illegal & unsafe realm of prostitution… and we damn sure aren’t going to help them to do it!

Porn Industry Myth #4 – Most Porn is Violent & Gross

In dealing with porn industry newcomers, we’ll often ask the question, “what are you NOT willing to do… sexually, on camera?”

The most common answer from females is “anal“. The second most common answer – from males & females alike – is, “pee & poo stuff“. It probably occurs less now than in decades past, but outside of the porn industry, there sometimes seems to be the idea that porn sex is crazy, violent, brutal, and involves all kinds of nastiness like poop & bestiality, etc.

Although there are certainly videos and producers of videos for every possible fetish known to man (there’s no denying that), the vast majority of porn is basic boyfriend/girlfriend (or boyfriend/boyfriend) sex. In other words, it’s not too dissimilar from the kind of sex that happens each night, in your average bedroom, the world over. When a person makes a decision to become a pornstar, that doesn’t mean that they’re going to be forced into doing anything weird or uncomfortable. It just means that they are now going to be getting money for having sex and that their sex will be videotaped.

Porn Industry Myth #5 – Porn is Bad

• Porn is not bad. It’s fantastic!
• Everybody watches porn.
• Porn is the best business in the world to work in.
