Larry Flynt started out in early 1965 by buying his mother’s bar for $1,800, improving it, and then buying other bars. He claims to have worked as much as 20 hours a day, at the time. Flynt quickly transitioned into the strip club business in the late 1960’s by opening the Hustler Club.

In 1972, Flynt began publishing a 2-page newsletter for his strip clubs. When he noticed how popular the newsletter was amongst his customers, he decided to launch Hustler magazine in 1974.

Larry Flynt understands the Grant Cardone-coined concept that “money follows attention”. Flynt’s always used shock value to garner attention, from publishing nude photos of former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the mid-1970’s, to his recent $10 million public offer for dirt (leading to impeachment) on President Donald Trump.

Mr. Flynt has been wheelchair-bound (albeit a gold-plated wheelchair) for 40 years, as he survived an assassination attempt by white supremacist serial killer Joseph P. Franklin (FKA James C. Vaughn, Junior). Franklin was executed by lethal injection in 2013.

Larry Flynt owns a private jet, an 88-foot Gulfstream IV. Ironically, previously-mentioned Grant Cardone went from a jet smaller than Mr. Flynt’s to a 96-foot Gulfstream 550 within (literally) a few hours of the publication of this blog post.

Larry Flynt has done jail time on behalf of free speech, the 1st Amendment and the American Hardcore Porn Industry. The Porn Agency respects Mr. Flynt for doing so, as well as for his many other contributions to our wonderful industry. Unlike Hugh Hefner, who is commonly incorrectly labeled (even by Mr Flynt, himself) as a “pornographer”, Larry Flynt is an actual pornographer, and indeed one of the pioneers and kings of modern pornography. (Nude photography ≠ pornography, folks.) Although the term pornography has traditionally included nude photography and even erotic literature, we at The Porn Agency define “pornography” in 2018 as synonymous with “hardcore pornography”, i.e. actual sexual acts filmed and/or photographed. The alternate definition would include 50 Shades of Grey & romance novels, and we don’t buy that (as being considered “pornography”).
